The past few months have been very busy for AMAR on an international scale. We’ve opened healthcare clinics, skills training centres and provided other forms of support to displaced communities throughout Iraq and Kurdistan. We’ve had events (and have many more) all over the world, and we have a brand new website coming very soon!

As ever, none of this would be possible without your support and we’re so grateful! However, the need is growing, and we still need as much help as possible to continue our important work. All donations make such a difference – no matter how big or small. Get in touch with us at any time to find out how you can help more.

Healthcare and Training Clinics Open

AMAR recently opened two new medical clinics and three training centres to help some of the 2.5 million internally displaced people (IDPs) throughout Iraq. The Najaf clinic is a completely refurbished former government facility, and Khanke Camp clinic (near Dohuk) is a brand new purpose-built centre in the heart of the refugee camp. Our training centres are providing not only employable skills but also music and art classes which act as a form of therapy for the many refugees who have fled violence.

Shell Iraq Staff Fundraise for AMAR

Shell Iraq staff dug deep into their own pockets to help raise money for AMAR’s emergency projects. A series of fundraisers held by staff brought in almost $10,000! Shell Iraq generously agreed to match the funds, bringing the total donated to almost $20,000. The money is being used to provide food boxes, milk and sanitary items to IDPs in Khanke Camp.

Dubai Supporters’ Evening

More than 70 of AMAR’s supporters – old & new – in Dubai gathered for an evening at the luxurious Villa 515 to raise awareness of our projects in Iraq. Senior representatives from international companies such as Shell Iraq, Weir Group and Control Risks attended the event, and was also attended by Mr Frank Baker OBE, Ambassador of the UK to Iraq (pictured above).
